With the summers’ transfer window now completely closed for both permanent and loan deals, Leeds United could still dip into the free agent market and some in the Elland Road faithful believe that Steven Caulker is the man to go for.
The 26-year-old (and I thought he was older than that) came through Tottenham Hotspurs youth levels before moving onto Cardiff City in the summer of 2013 for a reported £8million. From Cardiff he moved on to Queens Park Rangers but with well-stated issues in the past, his career stalled and he went a few seasons without any significant match time to his name.
Last season he did spend the second half of the campaign with Dundee north of the border, taking in 17 matches with a return of one goal and as his name came up as a topic of debate on social media, the following fans felt he could properly get himself back on track under manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Caulker is 6'3..built like a tree, can play the play the ball out for free …he's had his problems but for the grace I god with thee….. sign him up

have a think … why hasn’t he bern snapped up? injury prone? wage demands? not good enough? Bielsa will take Caulker if he thinks he can improve the side, otherwise a pointless signing #lufc #BucketMan

Steven Caulker now a free agent…..despite all his issues I'd take him – class player #LUFC

Leeds now must move to sign Steven Caulker
Do it now he's FREE— Graham (@GrahamJ85853102) September 2, 2018
If Bielsa thought he could get him back to his best it’s a no-brainer to me, over 100 Premier League games under his belt, significant Championship experience and an England cap to his name – he could do worse than try and rebuild his career properly with us.
But is Bielsa adamant we don’t need any more defensive cover?
