Former Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford had a mixed first year at Elland Road following his arrival from Middlesbrough for £7million.
The 25-year-old striker came in as our big money buy and expectation levels were high, and although he found the net ten times across all competitions in the season of 2018/19, he was hit heavily with injury and that undoubtedly set him back massively when it came to his form.
With his more theatrical moments across the season, he took plenty of criticism for his form in a way that Kemar Roofe didn’t, as he struggled in the second half of the year following his own injury problems, but plenty of fans seem to be backing him to show what he’s fully capable of in 2019/20 now that he’s settled and knows exactly what manager Marcelo Bielsa wants from him.
Given the side did lack a clinical edge last year given the sheer number of chances we created, yet failed to take, a big year for Bamford should definitely mean a big year for the club.
I couldn’t agree with this anymore.
