Leeds United manager Gary McAllister is looking to get back to winning ways with the extra comfort of the United home faithful.
A win against struggling Crewe Alexandra would be the Whites first home win since the 5th of January. McAllister also used the interviews pre-match to show (whether he meant it or not) a much more modest approach to being the big club in the little league ;-).
“I’m not saying it’s everybody’s cup final, but I feel Leeds are the biggest club and we are big scalp,” he told Leedsunited.com
“There’s a big crowd and more media attention, but they’ve coped with that, and that’s something the players have to thrive on at a club of this stature.
“I’ve said that we have to use the crowd to our advantage, and by that I don’t mean fear of making mistakes, but by going out and expressing yourselves.”
He added: “It was comfortable on the night, but over the years of watching Crewe they are a club that is run well, and they encourage youngsters to get the ball to feet and play it properly.”
I’d disagree with that last statement, since the manager hand-over from Dario Gradi to understudy Steve Holland there has been nothing but a rocky (rail)road for the Railwaymen. Leeds huffed and puffed to a 1-0 win courtesy of a goalkeeper who struggled with the basic skill of clawing the ball out of the air, allowing Jermaine Beckford to nod home.
We need to be on our guard against a Crewe side re-energised by the return of hero Kenny Lunt however I still feel Leeds are strong enough to do the business!
