“The Lads Laughed” – Forshaw Admits Leeds Players Thought Summer Capture Was A Bit Of A Joke

|

Plenty of Leeds United fans wondered ‘who’ when we made the move for Brighton and Hove Albion centre-half Ben White during the summer transfer window, but the deal for the youngster has proven to be a stroke of genius given the performances he’s put in.

The 22-year-old youngster has seamlessly adapted to the Championship level and having had big boots to fill in the shape of Pontus Jansson, the young lad has come in for significant praise already from pundits, manager Marcelo Bielsa and the fans themselves.

Speaking recently to TalkingShutt, midfielder Adam Forshaw admitted that everyone in the first team squad had been blown away by his talent and composure given his relative lack of experience, and they had been won over given most of them thought the signing was a bit of a joke as they had no idea who he was.

“The lads laughed because to be honest when we realised we were signing him we were like ‘who is he?’, and we’ll tell him that now. He is unbelievable. He is a John Stones type, hasn’t shown any sign of making a mistake yet. He hasn’t put a foot wrong. So cool on the ball and clever. Might not be the most physical centre-back, but he’s just clever. He looks a top, top player and we’re lucky to have him.”

White has certainly had the last laugh here and he has a massive future ahead of him in the game, we just have to pray it’s with us but as January nears, plenty of fans will be worrying that his parent club will recall him.
