“The Complete Centre Half” – Former Leeds Player Lauds 21 y/o’s Elland Road Impact

|

Few Leeds United fans knew what to expect when we brought in Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Ben White during the summer transfer window, but it’s fair to say he’s quickly won the fanbase over with some significantly impressive displays in the heart of defence so far during the 2019/20 campaign.

With the 21-year-old making the switch early on in the summer, he was free to make his debut in our opening clash against Bristol City and he now has seven starting appearances to his name, with a further showing from the substitutes bench to his tally.

Former player and now pundit Noel Whelan has been seriously impressed with his showings so far this year and in his recent column for Football Insider, not only was the former striker singing his praises, he felt that on current form for us, he had already put himself into the £15million price bracket, especially given how much he can still improve on.

“In a couple of years he’s going to be the complete centre half and it’s really exciting we’ve got him. I’m a striker but I love watching him play. It’s such a difficult one to put a price on him. The way he’s playing right now, you’re definitely looking at the £10-15million bracket, £15million probably. It’s still early doors, there’s a long, long season to go. All the attributes of the modern-day centre half, he’s got. He likes a challenge, he’s strong and aggressive, his ball distribution is fantastic. He’s somebody if he keeps progressing the way he is, there will be a big figure.”

High praise indeed, but you don’t need to look far to see that a significant number of fans will completely agree with him.
