Leeds United returned from the international break to secure a much-needed victory over Bristol City, bouncing back from the defeat sustained against West Brom two weeks ago.
It was not a comfortable result for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who only took the lead through Kemar Roofe in the second half after the visitors were reduced to ten men, but Pablo Hernandez’s late goal secured what could be a vital win.
Plenty of fans took to social media after the game to express their thoughts on the performance and there was a flurry of positive comments directed towards midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has developed into a key part of Bielsa’s side.
The 22-year-old is one of only three Leeds players to have featured in all of the club’s 18 Championship games so far this season, alongside Ezgjan Alioski and Matheusz Klich, and he has established himself as a fan favourite at Elland Road.
After the win on Saturday, many flocked to social media again to share their thoughts on the talented youngster. We have gathered some of their comments below.
After re-watching us on Quest, I can only come to one conclusion:
Kalvin Phillips has stolen N'Golo Kante's footballing ability and is comfortably the best CDM in world football. #lufc

BTW, when are we going to accept the inevitable and declare that under Bielsa, Kalvin Phillips is the only serious contender to be LUFC’s captain?

Great result and Kalvin Phillips is a phenomenal footballer. We go up this season he’ll be quite rightly mentioned in the same breath as David Batty. He’s that good.

Thoughts on Kalvin Phillips – I’m glad a coach is at the club who can let the lad realise his potential. Absolutely first class so far this season. I don’t know how things would have panned out with coaches before Bielsa. He’s been given a proper role now and is excelling.
