According to Phil Hay, Leeds are keeping tabs on Matias Almeyda if the deal for Marcelo Bielsa goes south and falls through.
The Argentine boss is still the one that the club wants and there’s no suggestion that we are not getting him but I suppose it would make sense to have a back-up.
Almeyda seems to be exactly that, then, with him most recently managing in Mexico and a former player for Argentina.
Certainly, it looks as though the club is eager to try and bring in a foreign boss after Paul Heckingbottom’s demise and, whoever comes in, I just hope they’re a success.
I don’t know much about Almeyda but he did apparently enjoy a decent time in Mexico so I think he’d probably be an okay arrival.
In all honesty, though, if we ended up getting him after all this Bielsa fiasco it would be a blow – though I don’t think that will be the case…
