A semi-normal weekend for Leeds United fans, we were back in action and hosting Fulham at Elland Road.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa’s return to football wasn’t great as we went down 2-0 to Cardiff City, but with West Bromwich Albion losing their tie as well, we could again open up a three point gap on them at the top of the Championship table with a victory.

Quite how the referee missed the early assault by Mitrovic is probably beyond everyone, but we took the lead ten minutes in as Patrick Bamford slotted home. It was an irregular Leeds performance though, Fulham dominated possession and chances in the first half but couldn’t find a way through.

Little changed in the second half, although we increased our possession and created better chances ourselves, and we made them count. Ezgjan Alioski got himself on the scoresheet in the 56th minute and Jack Harrison made it 3-0 with 19 minutes remaining in the game.

With Fulham down to ten men (finally) it was never in doubt, but Mitrovic can certainly expect a three game ban in the next few days.

Top spot and the advantage is ours.

In 1967, goalkeeper Gary Sprake unfortunately gifted Liverpool a goal as he threw the ball into his own net - which defender was he actually aiming for?
