A few Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after LUFC Data shared that Stats Zone data showed Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites have fallen just short of matching a second-tier record.
Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town was our 20th game of the season, and keeping a clean sheet at the John Smith’s Stadium during the West Yorkshire Derby meant we have conceded just 0.5 goals per game thus far this term.
In this history of the second-tier, only Notts County have allowed fewer goals to be scored against them at this stage of a league campaign, having conceded a record-low eight during the 1922/23 season.
The Magpies kept 12 clean sheets in the opening 20 games of the old Division Two season that year, and would go on to keep a further 11 in the remaining 12 matches as they clinched the title by two points to West Ham United.
Notts County also won 16 of their 21 home fixtures that league season, drawing one and losing four, but struggled for the same consistency on the road, having lost eight, drawn six and won seven.
We are currently making Elland Road a fortress this season as we bid for automatic promotion into the Premier League, with Bielsa’s men winning six, drawing two and losing once on home soil this Championship season.

Our home form is only the fifth-best in the division, though, with Cardiff City and Preston North End atop the home table on 23 points to our 20.
What has made our current promotion challenge as strong as it has been, is that Bielsa has also overseen a strong run of form away from Elland Road, with West Bromwich Albion joint with us at the top of the away table on 23 points.
