“That’s Football” – Leeds Loanee Reflects On Disappointing 2018/19 Campaign

|

With Leeds United’s 2018/19 campaign coming to a hugely disappointing close in Wednesday evening’s second leg defeat by Derby County in the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final, on loan Chelsea midfielder Izzy Brown now officially heads back to his parent club following the end of his loan spell with us.

Having arrived with rehabilitation being the main aim initially following his serious knee injury, the deal struck saw us only begin paying towards his wage once he was fit and fans saw him get good game time in our Under 23s as he built himself back up, but he barely got off the bench for manager Marcelo Bielsa in our senior setup – and when he did, it’s not harsh to say he didn’t really impress.

We thought initially we might have stolen a march on other suitors given how he’s always been highly rated, by bringing him in and showing him some love, but I’d be amazed if we now made a move for him over the summer.

The 22-year-old took to social media this week to give his goodbye message and it doesn’t sound like he expects to return either.

I never did get that photo!
