Leeds Word On The Tweet

“That’s a Yorkshire pep talk” – Loads of Leeds fans react to club figure’s “fantastic” message

Loads of Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to a message Whites goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad, allegedly, told Kiko Casilla.

Casilla entered last summer with his future at Elland Road up for debate despite only moving to West Yorkshire from Real Madrid in January, as club chiefs were considering sanctioning his departure after an underwhelming run of performances between the sticks.

The one-time Spain international was heavily criticised by parts of the fanbase for his role in our Play-Off Semi-Final defeat to Derby County, with supporters lambasting the 33-year-old for his rash decision making as Casilla opted to run off his line and give Jack Marriott the chance to chip the ball in for the aggregate lead.

He has been a revelation this season, though, as no goalkeeper in the Championship has kept more clean sheets through the opening 18 games of the term than Casilla, who has kept nine shut outs and made a total of 41 saves across his league outings.

How would you rate Casilla's efforts so far this season?

Best player in the squad

Far better than last term

Still room to improve

Has to do a lot better

But what inspired Casilla’s change of fortunes and move away from being a rash veteran to a brick wall in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans?

Well, according to a quote shared by Forever Leeds on Twitter, Abad told the former Madrid man: β€œI just looked Kiko straight in his eyes and said: ‘Kiko stop f****** about.’ That’s it.”

Here are some of the messages shared in response to Abad’s message to Casilla…
