With two wins from three, Wednesday evening’s action at Elland Road saw Pontus Jansson and his new Brentford side make the trip and for Leeds United, it was an opportunity to return to the top of the Championship table.
With doubts surrounding Barry Douglas, Liam Cooper and Ezgjan Alioski, the latter two did make manager Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI selection and otherwise the team was what you’d have expected.
Again, our Achilles Heel was on show as despite dominating the ball by the hour mark we’d only managed seven efforts at goal, and only two had been on target. And that was despite some improvement in the second half. It still felt like a matter of when, rather than if, and with some late changes, Eddie Nketiah did just that in the 81st minute as we made our control count with more punch up front.
1-0 was how it finished, and Costa to Nketiah could be something we hear quite often this year!
Despite the stats, Patrick Bamford three in four, and Nketiah two in two – you’d take that start wouldn’t you?
