Leeds United returned to the summit of the Championship on Saturday after securing a valuable three points against Bolton, extending their winning streak to five matches.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have performed valiantly this season in their attempts to secure promotion to the Premier League but further improvements are required, with fans keen for their side to conduct pieces of business during the January transfer window.
However, just weeks before the market opens, many Leeds fans have received a different sort of news to what they were expecting as the club confirmed on Monday that Samuel Saiz would be returning to Spain in January to join Getafe on loan.
The 27-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first-team this season, making 15 starts in the Championship and earning a further four appearances off the bench – but he has not featured since the victory over QPR at the start of the month.
Many fans were disappointed by the news and we have gathered some of their responses below.

Adios Samu. It’s better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all. Given the circumstances simply hope it works out for you over there.

Good on the club for looking after the players welfare but having only the other week bought a Saiz 14 shirt for my son’s Christmas present I’m really annoyed. @andrearadri is the club going to have some sort of offer on to replace all of these wasted Christmas presents?
