I’m not sure Leeds United fans should put much stock in this, certainly not at this stage, but we are being tentatively linked with Portsmouth striker Ronan Curtis.
The fact I can follow that sentence with the words – we are apparently taking a close look at him alongside scouts from Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby County, not least Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion, probably tells you all you need to know about the reliability of the claim.
The original report as it gained traction online now suggests around 30 clubs are looking at him for January, so he’s become flavour of the week.
The 22-year-old forward is in his first year at Fratton Park having joined them from Derry City last summer, but the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international has bagged six goals in 14 League One appearances, and he apparently has five assists, so whilst I guess he’ll have been looked at, suggesting a move in January seems way too early given the youngsters we already have and their talent.
Hold out and get promoted and double that figure easily

As the above implies though, the reaction from Portsmouth fans is interesting. Clearly they rate him and a number believe he’s key to their hopes of promotion back to the Championship but given his relative lack of experience, I can’t see Leeds or any club taking a punt just now. He might be a name to watch for the future, but he won’t make that name swapping proper football for Under 23 level.
