Plenty of Leeds United fans were fuming at the club after what they did following their side’s 4-0 victory against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday.
The Whites lifted the Championship trophy aloft at the end of the game as they returned to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
After the match, masses of crowds gathered outside Elland Road as the team emerged from the stadium with the glittering trophy and boarded onto an open-top bus.
Who should be Leeds' Player of the Season?
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay posted an image of crowds outside with flares lit as they honoured the team’s promotion.
With this in mind, supporters were not impressed with their club and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that it had “taken the edge” off the celebrations, while another stated that she felt “betrayed”.
I don’t begrudge the club, players, staff celebrating but this is a real kick in the teeth for the fans that followed the clubs advice and stayed home. A night of celebration tainted. So disappointed!
