Paul Heckingbottom addressed the press earlier today as we head into another weekend of Championship action.
I know, I know, the season is still going – it feels like it’s really dragged on – but we’re nearly there now and I’m hopeful we can finish on a high.
Certainly, getting Pablo Hernandez on a new deal is a good step and, with that said, it’d be nice if we combine a strong end to the season with other players signing new contracts.
Tom Pearce is one of the more urgent, too, with his deal up in the summer and Hecky has offered this update – via Phil Hay:
Tom Pearce out of contract this summer. Heckingbottom indicated that he's being offered a new deal. Nothing signed yet. #lufc

Let’s take a look at what has been said in response to this, then:

Surely you don’t say anything and keep that quiet!

No doubt about him. He's Leeds!

Come on Pearcy sign that contract – you know you want to #lufc

The lad has a very bright future. Less pin him down so we can sell him to a Prem club in 3 years time whilst we're still mid table in the championship.

The Verdict
For me, Pearce is a young player we really need to be keeping hold of.
He’s got exceptional potential and looks like he is more than aware of what playing for our club means.
Such a combination is rare these days and so I hope we get something sorted for him.
