After our disappointing defeat to Manchester United, Leeds United got back to pre-season winning ways in our second Australia based clash at the weekend against Western Sydney Wanderers as we took a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Mats Bogusz and Pablo Hernandez.
Sadly, last season’s ire against £7million signing Patrick Bamford continues for some in the fanbase as he missed a couple of chances that should’ve really been buried in the game, and whilst most I think, and manager Marcelo Bielsa, get behind the 25-year-old in the belief that he’ll build on his injury hit season last year and add more to his tally of ten goals in 18 starts, there are those who continue to be determined to tear him down.
Thankfully, not all see it the same way.
Bielsa addressed the Bamford questions when he spoke to the media following the game.
“For a striker it is very important that they create chances. So at the same time, for his confidence it is important he finally finishes these type of chances and scores. One of the first steps for a forward is that it is important he creates a chance and makes steps in his performance in the pre-season and finally he scores goals.”
Just watching Bamford goals v West Brom and Preston. If you’re telling me he isn’t going to get 15+ goals this season if he stays injury free, you’re wrong. Support the lad, he’s class

So what yes Bamford should of scored a couple but giving players stick all the time its terrible, in recent years we gave him, Cooper, Phillips, Berra, Wood, Beckford and many more players terrible abuse! If he doesn’t score often then fine bench him but don’t abuse him #lufc

I’m backing Bamford! What comes with a striker is confidence, once he puts his first goal away that will give him confidence to kick on and bag more! People that know about football and play will actually understand. #lufc #mot

I've not given up on Bamford yet but the chances he missed today where awful I thought pre season would be a confidence boost but it looks like its going the other way for him

He was wasteful again tonight. We need a finisher

Not his biggest fan because imho he slows the game down but yes,i agree,we need to give him a chance and slating him wont help.

Just remember Bamford is the highest paid player at the club on over £30k per week. Just a thought ????♂️#life

Bamford will get goals this season. Constantly creating space and opening his body up to receive the ball. Also sees the space to run into for the follow up should the keep move the ball back into play.
Striking instincts are there just need the finishes to follow https://t.co/Cfq8HaAAzp

I feel that the fan base will once again be proved wrong, this time by bamford. He is getting in the right positions, once he gets his mojo back it will be like Chris wood all over again #lufc
