Leeds United won for the first time on the road in five games to cement their place in the top six.

Goals from Robert Snodgrass and Max Gradel were enough to beat Bristol City 2-0.

Simon Grayson made two changes from the side that beat Coventry last week with Eric Lichaj making his debut in place of the injured Paul Connolly and Neil Kilkenny replacing Davide Somma.

Kilkenny had Leeds first chance but a city defender blocked his shot from the edge of the area.

Andy Keogh had the home side`s first chance but he headed wide when he should have done better.

Leeds took the lead on 17 minutes when Gradel played in SNODGRASS and his wonderful footwork created an opening for himself and he steered the ball past David James.

Snodgrass almost got his second of the afternoon when he stung the hands of James with a long-range shot.

Marvin Elliott had the home side`s best chance to get back on level terms before half time but his shot went harmlessly wide from close range.

Clarkson had a good chance at the start of the second half for the home side but his left foot volley went into the side netting.

They were made to pay for the miss within minutes when Max Gradel doubled the lead for Leeds.

Snodgrass cut in from the right and shot, the ball fell to GRADEL and his shot from a tight angle went straight through the legs of James.

Bradley Johnson almost scored a third soon afterwards. Robert Snodgrass was continuing to terrorise the City defence down the right, and his cross found the head of Johnson who scrapped the top of the bar.

City were trying to find a way back into the game and Keogh saw his shot saved by Schmeichel.

The Leeds defence were living dangerously and they somehow managed to preserve their clean sheet with two mad goalmouth scrambles in the space of minutes.

Firstly, Luciano Becchio cleared a shot off the line from a Clarkson shot after Leeds bodies blocked an initial shot.

Then the woodwork twice came to the Leeds rescue as City first hit a post, Adomah then saw his shot blocked and a follow up shot cannoned back off the bar.

Pitman then tested Schmeichel from a free kick as the Leeds defence continued to come under pressure.

Davide Somma had the final chance of the afternoon for Leeds when he shot over the bar deep into added time.

A great three points for Leeds and back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since September.
