Sunday marked a somewhat unwelcomed landmark for Leeds United – whilst plenty of eyes were on the October international set of games, those with long memories may have been aware of the fact that October 14 marked a year to the day since we were last awarded a penalty.

Samu Saiz was the man who won our last spot kick in the game against Reading at Elland Road and it was awarded by Jeremy Simpson – the man who awarded the pathetic penalty to Brentford the other week and in the same period it was the ninth kick awarded against us.

Pablo Hernandez did miss our last effort as Vito Mannone saved his effort but when you consider the types of attackers we have at the club, going a full year without getting a sniff of a penalty is pretty bizarre.

It’s unthinkable that we could go another full year without seeing a penalty decision go in our favour, but I think most fans would be content to not see another penalty like the last one given against us – ever again.
