Late yesterday evening, Leeds United confirmed what fans had been expecting – Samu Saiz had signed the terms on a January loan move back to Spain with La Liga side Getafe.

The statement from the club was pretty short and sweet in reality.

It is a loan move, with a view to a permanent transfer come next summer and no figures were confirmed, but the rumour mill has it as no upfront payment (presumably wages only) but a potential £6million fee come the end of the season.

Saiz was in Spain last weekend to undergo a medical and sort out personal terms and he won’t be returning to the UK for the final weeks of December, remaining out there with his family until the loan deal kicks in.

Given the personal issues involved here, it would be nice I would think if he did show his face so fans could give him a proper send off.
