Phil Hay has confirmed recently that the Whites are back in for Matthew Pennington after apparently losing interest in him earlier this summer.

The defender did not have a good time at the club last season and many of our fans are apprehensive to say the very least about this potential deal.

However, that said, I actually am not that against such a potential move as last season few players would have shone in that side.

The lad has the potential to be a good defender and under Bielsa surely he would improve and become a solid Championship centre-half.

Yes, it seems as though we’re going back on our decisions and clearly he wasn’t first choice to begin with but we need another centre-half and at least he knows the club and many of the players.

Perhaps it is a risk, but I don’t think it would prove to actually be that bad a deal if we just got behind him.
