Leeds Word On The Tweet

‘Sounds great’, ‘nice ring to it’ – Lots of Leeds fans get excited by huge news at pre-season game

|

How much can you really read into a pre-season game?

Well it turns out quite a lot, if you want to. A less than routine victory over Guiseley saw Leeds maintain their 100%-win record in pre-season, as goals from Helder Costa and Mateusz Bogusz sealed the comeback in a 2-1 win at Nethermoor Park.

However, there was one detail on the team sheet that got a lot of Leeds fans buzzing, and that was the fact that Kalvin Phillips was given the captains armband for the evening.

Now whilst it’s only pre-season, this could just be a ceremonial role for one game, I mean someone has to do the coin toss at the start of the game don’t they? However, does this indicate some level of trust by Bielsa in Philips, and could it potentially be a sign that these rumours of him leaving for Aston Villa might finally come to an end.

That’s certainly what these supporters thought. This recent development, combined with their reactions yesterday about his potential move, has certainly given the Elland Road faithful a fantastic couple of days, as the hopes of keeping hold of one of their own grow ever greater.
