Leeds United have parted ways with Pontus Jansson after three-years, with the Sweden international joining fellow Championship side Brentford on a three-year deal, while the Bees hold an option for a fourth.

Many of the Elland Road faithful, however, are struggling to come to terms with the 28-year-old leaving Elland Road for a fellow Championship side, with some taking note of the reported £5.5million plus add-ons fee Leeds are thought to have agreed.

The defender has moved on from life in West Yorkshire after 120 games and nine goals for the Whites, as his relationship with Marcelo Bielsa was beyond repair, and the boss felt it would be in the best interests of everyone at the club if he were to leave before the new season begins.

The former Torino ace, who left the Serie A for the Championship on an initial loan in 2016, was a key figure of our Play-Off bound squad last term, though, making 39 appearances across the season, before cutting a dejected figure slumped against the advertising boards following United’s home defeat to Derby County in the Semi-Finals.

United will now have to decide if we can make do with Liam Cooper, Gaetano Berardi and Ben White as our centre-back contingent next term, but the feelings on Jansson’s exit are still raw for many of the Elland Road faithful…
