Robert Snodgrass returned for Leeds United to salvage a point at Crystal Palace.

Snodgrass came off the bench against ten men Palace to poke home within ten minutes of coming on as a second half substitute, his first game since recovering from an appendix operation over Christmas.

Palace had taken an early lead when Chris Martin beat Andy Lonergan with a low shot from the edge of the area but the game changed when they had Sean Scannell sent off for a second bookable offence on the stroke of half time.

The home side started strongly with Lonergan making two good saves to deny Martin and Darren Ambrose.

Lonergan could do nothing to deny Martin in the sixth minute when his low shot beat him with the Leeds defence backing off.

Leeds took time to get into the game but a number of long-range efforts failed to test Juliano Speroni in the Palace goal.

Ross McCormack had a free kick deflected just wide just past the half hour and Speroni made two great saves to deny Leeds soon afterwards.

Adam Clayton cut in from the right and saw his shot pushed away by Speroni, the ball eventually came back in and Speroni somehow got down low to keep out Tom Lees goal bound effort.

Palace went down to ten men on the stroke of half time when Scannell received his second yellow card of the afternoon after clipping Danny Pugh from behind.

The second half started with Palace seemingly happy to sit back and soak up the Leeds pressure.

Leeds were having plenty of the ball but we`re not looking like scoring until the introduction of Snodgrass.

Snodgrass had only been on the pitch seven minutes when he poked home after McCormack had teed him up.

Leeds continued to look for a winner with Michael Brown, Clayton, Pugh and Snodgrass all shooting wide.

Mikael Forssell had Leeds best chance to win the game inside the final five minutes but Speroni saved his close range effort.

It was to prove the final chance as Leeds couldn`t find a way past a resolute Palace defence.

The draw sees Leeds drop down to eleventh place in the championship.
