Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins has admitted he is still waiting to find out if Leeds United are prepared to accept a bid for their young striker Jermaine Beckford.

Beckford, who spent a spell at Glanford Park last season is believed to want to rejoin The Irons having scored 8 goals during their journey to The Championship.

Rumours are abound that a bid of £250,000 may just tempt Leeds into letting Beckford replace the outgoing Billy Sharp who has joined Sheffield United this summer. Irons manager Adkins spoke to the Scunthorpe Telegraph and said: ‘We have put what for us is a very good offer on the table, but are still awaiting a response from Leeds.’
