Leeds United’s Under 23 side opened their season at Thorp Arch on Monday afternoon as we welcomed Millwall, and coach Carlos Corberan would definitely have been looking for victory after our exploits at that level in 2018/19.
It was a strong squad selected and we saw the likes of Illan Meslier, Ezgjan Alioski and Helder Costa from the start, but second half substitute Mats Bogusz continued to impress as he secured all three points and a late win with a set piece in the 96th minute.
The 17-year-old Polish youth international quickly adjusted to life at the club following his arrival last year, and his little moments of brilliance certainly wowed fans. His involvement on the bench for manager Marcelo Bielsa was a welcomed step this year as well as he continues his development and it can only be a matter of time before he gets his senior maiden bow for us.
96' GOAL! Mateusz Bogusz scores with the last kick-of the game! What a game to the start the new season for the U23s. 3-2 pic.twitter.com/FTcyzY8hJS

His goal on Monday made it another good run out for him, although the effort takes a deflection to take the keeper out of the equation, but we saw last year that he could finish.
