Part of me is looking forward to tonight’s game being over.
That way I won’t have to hear about this faux-rivalry that’s been driving a lot of the narrative. Thank the lord this isn’t an FA Cup tie, no chance of a replay, no chance of the narrative being dragged out for another couple of weeks.
As I’m sure you’re aware, but just in case you aren’t, Manchester United’s ‘Class of 92’ have got a heavy involvement in the ownership of Leeds’ opponents tonight Salford City. When you combine their stake with the rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds United, and you’ve got yourself the makings of one feisty affair.
Now we’ve talked before on this website about the Elland Road faithful and their views on the game, but what about the other side?
Thankfully, Paul Scholes is here to help us out. Speaking to The Manchester Evening News about tonight’s game, he talked about the occasion and what playing a side like Leeds meant to him.
“It is a big game. It’s probably the biggest team we’ve ever had, played against or had to the Peninsula Stadium. It’s the type of nights we want, it’s the type of teams we want to be playing against.”
So how did Whites fans react to Scholes’ comments? Well, they weren’t exactly the kindest to the former England man, with the exception of this first gentleman.
Paul scholes said “we couldn’t of wished for a bigger or better club to play against” with regards to the Salford city v Leeds United match tomorrow night. They may not be fond of us but they respect us! #LUFC

Scholes speaking sense. Still hugely overrated and not in the same class as Gerrard or erm Frank Lampard…

Scholes is also a bottler. Retired from international football as he didn't want to fight for his position ????

He might think it's a big game, but in reality we don't hence why we'll be making a 11 changes!

I don't think in the whole draw that #lufc could have got a smaller club

The Man Utd connection certainly adds a bit to the tie
