Gary McAllister has confirmed that Saturday’s captain Frazer Richardson will continue in the role for the remainder of the season.

Richardson took the captains’ arm band for the opening day of the League One season, a match in which Enoch Showunmi and Jermaine Beckford combined to claw victory from the jaws of defeat, coming from behind to beat Scunthorpe United 2-1 at Elland Road.

With respect to the captaincy, the Leeds boss was happy with the box-ticking exercise at the weekend:

‘He is a respected figure amongst the younger players at the club,’ he said on BBC Radio Leeds.

‘He sets a great example on the training ground. So he ticks a lot of boxes for me.’
