Leeds defender Tom Pearce is being eyed as a necessity signing for Greek Super League side Aris Thessaloniki, according to SDNA.

The Kleanthis Vikeldis Stadium natives are expected to be in the market for a new left-sided full-back ahead of the new campaign, as manager Savvas Pantelidis feels the position is currently a weak aspect of his squad ahead of their berth in next season’s Europa League.

Las Palmas’ Dani Castellano is also in the running to improve Pantelidis’ options, with one of the Spaniard or Pearce expected to join the Greek side this summer.

Leeds are already understood to be open to the Whites product leaving Elland Road this year, given he failed to make a significant impact under Marcelo Bielsa in the 2018/19 term before joining Scunthorpe on loan.

However, while United are open to offers for the Ormskirk-born 21-year-old, SDNA expect Aris to make a loan approach in the coming days, rather than opening a line of dialogue with Victor Orta over a permanent deal for the 6ft defender.

Pearce has so far represented the senior United squad on ten occasions and scored the opening goal as we beat Barnsley 2-1 in April 2018, but was not called on by Bielsa in the Championship since October, as a foot injury ruled him out of action before joining Scunthorpe in the winter.
