Derby County are interested in signing Leeds attacker Tyler Roberts this summer, according to a report from The Times.

Roberts has found himself battling with injury since moving to Elland Road from West Brom two years ago, but has still shown plenty of flashes of ability when given the opportunity.

The attacker has scored seven goals and provided six assists in 54 appearances in all competitions for the Whites since making that move to Yorkshire from the Baggies.

Now it seems as though the 21-year-old is attracting plenty of attention from elsewhere, with the latest reports claiming that Derby are monitoring the attacker, as they look to build on Phillip Cocu’s debut season at Pride Park.

It remains to be whether any move made by Derby for Roberts would be with the view to a permanent or loan signing, but with two years remaining on the player’s contract with Leeds, the Championship title winners are in a decent position to negotiate any offer that comes in for him.

Indeed, given the recent history between these two clubs, it would be slightly surprising if Leeds or Roberts were all that open to doing any high profile business such as this with the Rams over the coming months.

Add to that the fact that Roberts still has plenty of promise and potential to build on the age of 21, and has already shown some of that ability for Leeds, and it is hard to see why the club would want to let him go when they are still somewhat short on attackers.

The opportunity to play Premier League football this season meanwhile, means it is hard to see Roberts really pushing for a move away from Leeds at this moment in time.
