Leeds are looking into the potential of signing Manchester City winger Jack Harrison on a permanent transfer this summer, according to the Daily Star.

While the Stoke-on-Trent-born wide midfielder left much to the imagination for many of the Elland Road faithful, Marcelo Bielsa was left in no doubt that he wanted the 22-year-old to return to West Yorkshire for at least another season, after impressing the boss with his work while here on loan.

Negotiations with the Premier League champions to bring the £51,000-a-week ace back for another term reportedly ramped up during the week, with it expected that he will join the Whites for the 2019/20 season at the expense of £1million.

Former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay recently claimed negotiations with the Etihad Stadium outfit also saw United request an option-to-buy Harrison next year should we wish to, having not agreed on the clause last summer.

With Jack Clarke set to join Tottenham Hotspur, however, the Daily Star understand negotiations have taken a twist, with Leeds chiefs now looking into our chances of bringing the former Manchester United youth player back to Elland Road, but on a permanent transfer.

Clarke is due to join Spurs for an initial £8.5million having passed his medical in North London on Wednesday, and it is thought most of the funds raised from the Whites product’s exit will go toward funding our bid for Harrison.

While reports had previously suggested Pep Guardiola had placed a £20million asking price on the 22-year-old, the Daily Star claim the top-flight side would be willing to accept £7million, as Harrison has been given the green light to secure a permanent move away.

Harrison has two years remaining on his contract with the Sky Blues, but has not featured for their first-team since January 2018, at which point he joined Middlesbrough on loan before switching the North-East for West Yorkshire.
