Report: Leeds United monitoring youngster from Premier League outfit ahead of transfer window

|

Leeds United have made an approach to sign Arsenal keeper James Hillson as they look to strengthen the goalkeeping department.

That’s according to Football Insider, who state that the Londoners are keen on offering the 19-year-old a new contract before sending him out on loan next season, with the Whites seemingly an option. Hillson has been with the Gunners for over a year now, having joined on a permanent basis after an impressive initial loan spell with the club.

However, he is way down the pecking order when it comes to the first-team, so the update suggests he will have to look elsewhere to get minutes next season.

And, it seems as though Leeds will be in the market for a new keeper. There are doubts over the long-term future of Kiko Casilla, with the Spaniard currently serving an eight game suspension for using racist language towards Charlton’s Jonathan Leko from a game back in September. That has seen his reputation suffer in England and reports emerged indicating that he could be open to a return to his home country when the window opens.

Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Whilst Illan Meslier is expected to complete a permanent move to Elland Road in a deal that’s worth around €5.5m, it would mean they are still short in that department should Casilla go. Although, the club did sign Elia Caprile on a three-and-a-half year deal from Chievo in January and he has made the bench for the past two games.

Either way, further reinforcements may be needed and it’s unclear who will be the number one for Leeds next season right now.
