Report: Leeds United considering ambitious swoop for Argentinian international

|

Leeds United are interested in Tottenham’s Juan Foyth after the defender was told he can leave the Premier League side in the next window.

The 22-year-old Argentinian, who has won 10 caps for his country, had been a promising player under Mauricio Pochettino, making appearances in both the league and the Champions League over the past few years.

However, he has found game time hard to come by since Jose Mourinho was appointed as the Spurs boss, with Foyth failing to make the matchday squad for the past few months before this enforced break. Therefore, it has been reported that the centre-back has been told he can secure an exit in the transfer window, with Foyth’s agent acknowledging the player may not have a future in north London.

And, according to Football Insider, that has alerted Leeds United, as they claim Marcelo Bielsa is a huge fan of his fellow countryman and will try and bring the player to Elland Road. They add that the Whites have had enquiries about taking Foyth on loan rejected in the past. But, signing the player will be difficult as Barcelona have been credited with an interest in Foyth previously.

Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Bringing in at least one centre-back is sure to be a priority for Bielsa as the club understand it will be extremely tough to turn Ben White’s loan from Brighton into a permanent transfer.

Of course, any move for Foyth will depend on Leeds winning promotion, although that does look likely as the Yorkshire outfit are seven points clear of third-placed Fulham with just nine fixtures left. It has been suggested that they could win promotion without having to kick another ball as well.
