Leeds are interested in signing defender Calum Chambers from Arsenal this summer, according to a report from TeamTalk.

The Whites need to add some central defensive reinforcements to their side this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League next month, and have already been linked with one Arsenal defender recently in the shape of Rob Holding.

Now it seems as though Holding may not be the only making the move from The Emirates to Elland Road next season, with the latest reports claiming that the club are interested in Chambers as well.

Director of Football Victor Orta – who knows Chambers from his time at Middlesbrough – has reportedly spoken to the Gunners about a move for the 25-year-old, who is said to be available this summer with his Arsenal career all but over in the eyes of Mikel Arteta.

It is thought that Chambers could cost around £12million this summer, and Leeds are not the only club to be credited with an interest in the centre back.

Fulham, who like are currently preparing for a return to the Premier League, are also said to be keen on the defender, who previously spent time on loan at Craven Cottage during the 2018/19 season, when the club suffered relegation from the Premier League.

That is something that Leeds could do well to remember when they are considering this move.

Admittedly, it was not all down to Chambers, but it is hard to argue with the suggestion that for one reason or another he has not exactly lived up to expectations during his time at Arsenal.

As a result, you feel Leeds may have to tread carefully here, particularly given that £12million asking price could take a significant chunk out of their budget for this summer, and given the importance of getting their recruitment right in this window, they must be absolutely certain they are spending that money correctly.
