Leeds are set to renew their in Manchester United winger Dan James, a report from The Sun has claimed.

James was close to securing a move to Elland Road on the final day of the 2019 January transfer window, before the infamous collapse of the move, with the winger subsequently joining Manchester United for a reported £18million last summer.

But having dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, it seems Leeds could now be set to try their luck again when it comes to a deal for James.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are confident they could secure the services of James either permanently or on loan this summer, as they look to add some extra attacking firepower to their squad following promotion to the Premier League.

It is thought the Whites are believe they could potentially sign the 22-year-old for a fee of around £12million plus add-ons, with the club concerned that a loan move could see his valuation rocket if he proves successful at Elland Road in such circumstances.

However, it seems there could still be some negotiating to do over a move, with James apparently keen to make an impact at Old Trafford if he can.

With Leeds’ pursuit of an attacking midfielder starting to drag, there may be worse options than turning to James for the coming campaign, and potentially beyond.

The Wales international already has experience of the Premier League under his belt last season, and will be determined to prove a point if he is forced out at United.

It also appears as though this could be affordable for Leeds than some of the other targets linked with the Whites, meaning it could be worth considering, especially with Marcelo Bielsa a fan of James, and the Argentine’s judgement is not one that many around Elland Road are going to doubt.
