Leeds United are lining up a bid for Brentford’s Said Benrahma in the summer transfer window, a report from The Daily Mirror has claimed.

Benrahma enjoyed another outstanding campaign with Brentford in the season just gone, scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists for Thomas Frank’s side.

However, Brentford’s failure to win promotion following their play-off final defeat to Fulham on Tuesday night means that Benrahma now looks set to be a man in demand over the coming months, and Leeds now appear to have joined the queue.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are set to mount a strong push to bring the Algerian to Elland Road this summer, as they look to strengthen their squad following their own promotion to the Premier League as champions of the Championship this season.

Even so, it appears it may not be easy for the Whites to secure the signing of the Benrahma, who is thought to be valued at £25million by Brentford, and with two years remaining on his contract with the London club, they are at least in a strong position to negotiate any offer that come in for him.

There is also the issue of having to compete with other clubs for Benrahma’s signature, with fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and West Ham also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.

It would be some signing for Leeds if they were to bring Benrahma to Elland Road for next season.

The Algerian has been in outstanding form for Brentford this season, and his performances do suggest that he would be able to help to ease the club’s concerns in the goalscoring department ahead of their return to the Premier League.Report: Leeds set to move for player involved in 26 this season

Add to that the interest there appears to be in Benrahma, it would be something of a marker laid down by Leeds if they secure this signing, and you feel these reports will have plenty of excitement amongst those of a Leeds persuasion.
