Report: Leeds scout international sensation linked with Euro champions

|

Leeds United had scouts in attendance as England’s U16s were held to a goalless draw with Russia, according to Scouts in Attendance.

The Young Lions faced Russia’s emerging stalwarts on Monday as they opened their Sportchain Cup journey, in a match which ended in a deadlock and was played in heavy rain.

Some of England’s most promising youth talents were in action during the match, including Exeter City’s Ben Chrisene, who has previously been linked with moves to title-winning sides from around Europe.

The Sun on Sunday, via Birmingham Mail, touted Chrisene as a player of interest for Aston Villa last month, while Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munch have all been said to have taken a look at the midfielder.

Chrisene also spent time training with Villa in November, and will be able to move away from Exeter and sign a professional contract with any side of his choosing in January, when he turns 16.

Chrisene played 67 minutes for England during the 0-0 draw with Russia on Monday, in what was his U16 international debut.

He has been described as a 15-year-old sensation, and made his Exeter first-team debut in August when fielded by manager Matt Taylor against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup.

Taylor awarded Chrisene his EFL Trophy debut against Cheltenham Town in September, too, with the central midfielder going on to record further substitute appearances against Newport County and West Ham United’s U23s.

Chrisene is yet to make his League Two debut, but was named on the bench for Exeter’s FA Cup First Round draw with Cambridge United in September.

Should Bielsa include McCalmont in his squad more often?

Yes, absolutely

Only on the bench

No, he isn't ready yet
