Leeds United are said to be interested in Cyle Larin as the club look to increase Marcelo Bielsa’s attacking options ahead of next season.

It’s an area of the pitch that has been slightly problematic since the Argentinian took over. After selling Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht in the summer, Patrick Bamford is now the Whites first-choice but his 13 goals do not stand up well in comparison to the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Lewis Grabban and Ollie Watkins who all play for promotion rivals.

With Arsenal recalling Eddie Nketiah in January, winter recruit Jean-Kevin Augustin was expected to push Bamford all the way for a starting spot but a hamstring problem and fitness worries had restricted him to just three substitute appearances since signing before this enforced break.

Therefore, a new forward is sure to be on the radar and reports from Turkey have suggested that Larin is a target. The 24-year-old is contracted to Besiktas but he is currently on loan to Belgian club Zulte Waregem and he has been a regular for the side in the top-flight, scoring seven times in 29 First League games.

Would Cyle Larin be a good signing for Leeds United?

Yes

No

No

He is due to return to the Turkish giants in the summer, although that could obviously be extended given the current situation. Either way, the long-term future of the Canadian international is up in the air and the update claims that a €6m offer from the Whites could bring the ex-Orlando City striker to England, with the Coronavirus crisis meaning Waregem are unsure on taking up their option to sign Larin permanently.

Whether he is the sort of player we should be chasing is another debate entirely. Larin has not scored a league goal since November and had been on an 11-game run without a strike prior to the season stopping.

Obviously a lot will depend on what division the Whites are in next season but fans will be hoping for some bigger names if Premier League football is back at Elland Road.
