Report: Leeds eye summer deal for £15k-p/w man with six big chances created this season

|

Leeds United are eying a summer deal to turn Jack Harrison’s loan spell from Manchester City into a permanent arrangement, according to Football Insider.

Harrison has been a mainstay of Marcelo Bielsa’s plans since joining the club on a one-season deal from Pep Guardiola’s reigning Premier League champions, starting all 19 of our Championship fixtures along with outings in both Carabao Cup matches.

The £15,000-per-week left-winger is also enjoying a stellar vein of form after a middle of the road start to the campaign, with four assists and three goals in his last nine second-tier appearances after penning one goal and no assists in his first ten.

Bielsa is a huge admirer of what the 23-year-old can be capable of showing on the pitch, and believes the Stoke-on-Trent-born wide man has the potential to make an impact in the top-flight should we secure promotion this term.

The boss will urge club chiefs to purchase Harrison permanently next summer should we book a seat at the Premier League table, having emerged as strong contenders to go up after winning 12 of our first 19 league games.

Leeds chiefs were able to agree on an option to purchase Harrison at the end of the 2019/20 campaign for an undisclosed fee as part of his loan transfer, and announced the clause in July at the time of his return.

Harrison spent last season on loan at Elland Road and featured in 42 games in all competitions, returning four goals and four assists – including the ball that led to Kemar Roofe opening the scoring at Derby County in the Play-Off Semi-Final First Leg.

Manchester City were said to have valued Harrison as highly as £15-20million last summer after his efforts on loan in West Yorkshire, amid interest from a number of Premier League and European sides.

Should the club activate their option-to-buy?

Yes, absolutely

Yes, if it's under £15m

No, he isn't good enough

Since his return on loan for a second successive season, Harrison has been averaging 1.2 shots per game in the Championship, per Sofa Score statistics, along with 49.4 touches, 1.5 key passes, 1.8 successful dribbles and wins 4.1 of his total duels.

The former England U21 international has also created six big chances and spurned four himself.

In other Leeds United news, the club are plotting a January swoop for a 5 ft 9 forward winning 33.3% of his ground duels this term.
