Report: Leeds enter race for in-demand wonderkid targeted by domestic giants

|

Leeds United have entered the race to sign Hutchison Vale’s in-demand youth sensation Bruno Davidson, according to The Scottish Sun.

The highly-rated 15-year-old currently plays for an Edinburgh-based boys’ side, and is believed to have been earned the Whites’ attention, and that of Derby County.

Scottish domestic giants Celtic have also put forward a proposal to the teenage winger to join the Hoops, said to be a three-year contract, in a bid to rival Sunderland from securing his signature having also made him an offer.

Davidson has admirers up and down the British Isles, having spent time with Southampton and Liverpool this season, while Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are keeping tracks of his progress ahead of potential moves of their own.

The Foxes reportedly moved ahead of Celtic in the race for Davidson’s signature in November, when head coach Brendan Rodgers offered the youngster a trial and appearance against West Ham United’s Under 16s – who are also interested in his potential.

We appear to have joined the race later than some, but are at least now said to be on the tracks of a youngster gaining a lot of attention for his efforts at age group.

Would Leeds be the best route for the youngster?

Yes

No

Davidson’s decision on which club he joins will, likely, ultimately come down to where he feels he will gain the best chance of breaking into the first-team, and what provisions are offered in the contract proposals.

Neil Lennon has handed two Under 23 players their Scottish Premiership debuts at Celtic this season, with Jeremie Frimpong and Marian Shved the Hoops’ latest debutants when fielded against Ross County in October.

Rodgers, meanwhile, has given one U23 player their Premier League debut this term, with summer signing from Luton Town James Justin given minutes against Watford earlier this month.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has not given any academy players their Premier League debut so far this season, with the Saints head coach’s only debutants being players brought in during the summer.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been linked with a £3million striker with seven goals this season.
