Leeds United could renew their interest in Rangers’ winger Ryan Kent, if they are unable to complete the signing of Dan James from Manchester United, a report from The Sun has claimed.

It was reported earlier in the window that the Whites had made a £10million bid for Kent, which Rangers manager Steven Gerrard later confirmed had been rejected, although it seems that may not be the end of Leeds’ interest in the 23-year-old after all.

According to the latest reports, Leeds could now reignite their interest in Kent, if they fail to bring James to Elland Road from Manchester United.

It is thought that the Old Trafford club will only let James go if they are able to source a new winger -namely Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho – but with that move showing little progress, Leeds are now apparently assessing their other options.

Kent is said to be the Whites’ first choice if they miss out on James, although it would reportedly cost them between £10million and £15million to sign the Rangers man, who has three years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

Even so, this may not be the worst move for Leeds to make, with time running out in the transfer market.

The Whites cannot wait for James forever, and with Manchester United not exactly renowned for their speed in the transfer market, you feel Leeds would be risking a lot to wait for them to get a deal before moving for James.

As a result, it does make sense for them to be looking for other options in a position they clearly want to strengthen this summer, and Kent’s impressive start to the campaign with Rangers suggests he could be a decent option to help them do that.
