Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez is interested in a move to Leeds United this summer, but is also a transfer target of Brighton’s, a report from The Guardian has claimed.

Gonzalez scored 14 goals in 27 league appearances for Stuttgart last season, helping the club win promotion back to the Bundesliga at the first time of asking, and the striker now appears to be attracting plenty of attention from England.

According to the latest reports, Leeds have held discussions about the possibility of signing the 22-year-old, who is apparently open to a move to Yorkshire, although he has yet to visit the club’s Thorp Arch training ground.

It also appears as though Leeds are not alone with their interest in Gonzalez, with Brighton also said to be keen on a move for the three-time Argentina international.

If either of these two sides are to bring Gonzalez to England this summer, it has been suggested that it will cost them somewhere in the region of £15million.

Given the position that Leeds and Brighton with regards to Ben White, this transfer pursuit now looks to have an intriguing subplot of its own.

With Patrick Bamford still the only established centre forward option at the club, bringing in a player such as Gonzalez surely remains a big priority for Leeds in what remains of this transfer window.

Missing out on Gonzalez would therefore be a big source of frustration for the club, particularly if it to a Premier League rival where he could come back and haunt them, not least with Brighton, where the Ben White situation means there is already a possibility of that happening.
