One of the biggest bits of speculation on the summer transfer rumour mill for Leeds United has been the potential departure of Academy graduate Jack Clarke, with Tottenham Hotspur heavily linked with a move for the last few months.
Speculation has been rife about the 18-year-old all season long in reality with different clubs linked, but this summer the main player has always been Spurs and many reports lean on the mutual respect between managers Marcelo Bielsa and Mauricio Pochettino when suggesting it would be a good move for the lad to make.
With plenty of contradictory reports and opinions doing the rounds, the Express were one of a number of outlets over the weekend to suggest that both clubs were now close on a £15million transfer deal, but with an agreement to loan Clarke back to us for the 2019/20 campaign.
I imagine most fans will be mixed on this as it’s a good price given the development he’s yet to make and with respect to his senior experience, but getting him back for next year as we gun for promotion again under Bielsa would definitely be a bonus.
On the other hand, we don’t want to always be selling our crown jewels and given how highly rated Clarke is at the club, regardless of how good a deal on paper it may be, there would be plenty of regret at seeing him move on.
