Leeds United are willing to sell goalkeeper Kiko Casilla in order to raise funds for a potential move to sign Arsenal’s Emiliano Martinez, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Casilla has been far from consistent during his time between the posts since moving to Elland Road from Real Madrid back in January 2019, and also found himself at the centre of controversy last season when he was handed an eight-game ban after being accused of racially abusing Charlton loanee Jonathan Leko.

Now it seems as though the Spaniard may soon be on his way out of Yorkshire, with the latest reports claiming that Leeds are willing to offload Casilla over the coming weeks.

It is thought that that could be done with a view to bringing Martinez to Leeds for the coming campaign, providing fresh competition for Illan Meslier following his permanent move from Lorient earlier this summer.

Arsenal are open to offers for Martinez, who played in their Community Shield meeting with Liverpool on Saturday, as they intend to keep Bernd Leno as their number one for this season once he returns from injury.

The Gunners are said to want around £20million for Martinez, which means that the sale of Casilla could be a sensible move for Leeds.

Considering his performances for Bielsa’s side, Casilla wouldn’t really be the most reliable option for them in the Premier League, and it would surely be expensive to keep him around as a number two with regards to wages.

As a result, you feel selling him on to raise funds for a move for Martinez, who has been outstanding for Arsenal since stepping in following Leno’s injury, meaning he could certainly do a job for Leeds in the coming campaign.
