Leeds United are leading the race to sign attacking midfielder Jens Petter Hauge from Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato has claimed.

Hauge has scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in just 20 appearances in all competitions for this season, and having impressed while scoring in a Europa League defeat to AC Milan in midweek, it now seems as though the 20-year-old is attracting plenty of attention from across Europe.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are in pole position to complete the signing of Hauge, who made his senior debut for his current club as a 16-year-old four years ago.

It is also thought that Serie A duo Atalanta and Udinese are interested in the attacker, as are one other as yet unnamed Premier League side.

As things stand, there are around 15 months remaining on Hauge’s current contract with Bodo/Glimt, securing his future with the Norwegian league leaders until the end of the 2021 calendar year.

With Leeds still in the hunt for an attacking midfielder, these links are certainly interesting from their perspective.

Hauge’s record in terms of both scoring and creating goals this season certainly suggests he could be a useful addition to Bielsa’s side this season, as they look for an extra attacking threat in their attempts to be competitive in the Premier League, although there will be questions about whether he will be able to make the step up to this level.

Even so, Hauge would likely be cheaper than certain other targets, and at 20-years-old, he does still have plenty of time left in his career to improve with experience.
