Leeds are set to table an offer for Levante midfielder Jose Campana, a report from Spanish outlet Super Deporte has claimed.

Campana is now into his fifth season at Levante, and has so far scored 11 goals in 158 appearances in all competitions for the club, and his performances now seem to have attracted the attention of those at Elland Road.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are considering lining up a bid for the 27-year-old, although it seems he will not come cheaply.

It is thought that Levante will allow Campana to leave this summer, but only if a club are able to match their £27.6million asking price for the central midfielder, and with three years remaining on his contract, the La Liga club are in a strong position to negotiate.

As yet, no offers are said to have come in for Campana that meet Levante’s asking price for the player, and the report does go on to state that Leeds would find it hard to afford a deal.

That is something that is no surprise, given they are seemingly on the verge of completing the £17million signing of Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, having already spent big on the likes of Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch this summer.

With that in mind, it does seem hard to imagine the club would be willing to spend so much of what remains of their budget on one player, particularly with the challenging financial situation clubs in this country in particular are also facing.

Indeed, it also seems as though Leeds are more keen on a more attack-minded midfielder at this moment in time, and with Campana not really fitting the bill in terms of his recent returns in front of goal, you do feel the Whites would be better off looking elsewhere.
