Leeds United’s clash with Nottingham Forest in last weekend’s Championship action carried a number of talking points from the game, for fans of both sides in fairness.
The way we utterly dominated at Elland Road in Saturday’s late kickoff, Kemar Roofe’s helping hand with the equaliser and the unbelievable way that Forest actually travelled home with a point given they registered one shot on target and scored from it.
The post-game meltdown following Roofe’s handball was certainly lively and it’s not unfair to say that some of the visitors to our ground on the day were absolutely furious, maybe even apoplectic as they called for a ban for the player. Former Forest player Kenny Burns went further in his Nottingham Post column claiming that the club were ‘cheated’ and that Leeds would predictably ‘choke’ in the promotion race.
His words were a little ill-timed as Forest crashed out of the EFL Cup last night to League One Burton Albion and by all accounts, Burton absolutely played them off the park in the 3-2 win. The ‘magic of the Cup’ or their biggest ‘choke’ of the season so far?
That’s for others to say – it just made me smile.
