Whilst Eamonn Dolan is still odds on favourite to become the new coach of Leeds United, there is a new name amongst the contenders to replace Brian McDermott.
Real Madrid coach Paul Clement is in the betting for the first time and despite being 20/1 with Betfair, who are the only bookmaking firm currently taking bets on the new Leeds boss, his price makes him joint fourth favourite.
The son of former England player David and younger brother Neil, who enjoyed a successful playing career, Paul failed to make it as a player but the 42-year-old would bring a wealth of coaching experience to Elland Road having first moved into coaching in 1996.
Almost 20-years in coaching as seen him work at Chelsea and Fulham as an academy coach before a short spell with the Republic of Ireland under-21 side.
In recent years, he has worked with Italian Carlo Ancelotti. He returned to Chelsea in 2007 and after working with Gus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge, Clement has struck up a partnership with Ancelotti in his two-years in charge of the London club and the pair led Chelsea to the double in 2009/10.
Following Ancelotti`s departure from Chelsea, Clement had a short spell as assistant to Steve Keen at Blackburn Rovers before re-acquainting himself with Ancelotti at French side Paris Saint-Germain.
The pair moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid at the start of last season and they led Madrid to Champions League success in May.
The choice of Clement would probably appeal more to many Leeds fans who have been less than impressed with the links with Dolan and Dave Hockaday so far and it would give Clement the opportunity to exchange one famous all white kit for another.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino is expected to return to Elland Road this weekend as he looks to bring in a new coach having finally completed the sale of Cagliari and he will want to bring in a new coach quickly with the players returning to training now just over one week away.
The big question would be, how much would it cost Leeds to prize Clement away from Real Madrid?
