One of the favourites for the Leeds job, Claudio Ranieri, has been talking of his desire to return to England, but insists he hasn’t been contacted by Leeds.

Ranieri told skysports.com: ‘I am friendly with both of them (Ken Bates & his assistant Gwyn Williams), but nobody has called me yet,’

‘Normally when a chairman wants to sack their manager they organise for the next manager before they sack him.’

However Ranieri has been at the last four Leeds games and this could suggest he’s just playing down speculation.

Ranieri added: ‘I want to come back and manage in England, in The Premiership and in Europe. That is my idea,

‘I would like to come back to England this season. And if not this season, we’ll see about next season.’
