Former Leeds United defender Lucas Radebe says he would love to come back and get involved with the club.
Radebe is the guest of honour at the clubs game with Birmingham City on Sunday, where he will be signing copies of his book ‘From soweto to soccer superstar,` in the club shop prior to the game.
He is still held in the highest regard by Leeds fans after he spent eleven-years with the club as a player before his retirement in 2005. Some fans groups are pushing for him to be given the role of club president and Radebe says he would love to return to Elland Road in some capacity.
“I love the club,” Radebe told Radio Leeds.
“If there is any way that I can come back or get involved with Leeds, I would love that.”
Radebe made over 200 appearances during his time at Elland Road and he was part of the defence that helped Leeds reach both the semi-finals of the Champions League and UEFA Cup in successive seasons.
As well as holding legendary status at Elland Road, he is seen as a huge role model in his native South Africa, for whom he played 70 times.
Radebe will be presented to the Elland Road crowd prior to the game with Birmingham City on Sunday for fans to show their appreciation.
